GALIA’s “Packaging Circular Economy” workgroup has decided to create a subgroup dedicated to the specific issue of recycled material content targets for plastic packaging.
For example, ordinary plastic packaging should contain 35% recycled material by 2030. While this may sound simple, it could mask complex questions: How will this target be calculated? How are incoming recycled materials assessed? What is the scope and level of detail of the calculations at packaging supplier factories? What is a packaging format? What are the economic impacts? What about the quality and availability of the materials?…
This subgroup aims to gather plastic packaging suppliers and packaging users to clarify some of the implications concerning automotive packaging.
