Hybrid electronic invoice: a common France/Germany standard

The German electronic invoice forums (FeRD) and French (FNFE with the active participation of GALIA) have the official support from the respective Administrations of their country and have been collaborating since 2015. As the result of a long collaboration, both forums publish the first Common hybrid electronic invoice standard Factur-X 1.0/ZUGFeRD 2.1 fully compatible and technically identical.

The Factur-X/ZUGFeRD standard is a hybrid electronic invoice format consisting of two elements: a PDF file and an embedded XML file. The PDF is the visual representation of the invoice and can therefore be easily read.  On the other hand, the XML file contains invoice data in a structured form in accordance with the European standard in order to be processed automatically by a machine. 

Electronic invoices in ZUGFeRD and Factur-X format are already integrated widely into accounting tools, ERP software solutions and the Chorus Pro platform of centralizing invoices to end public sector in France.
