European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

The European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) imposes a strict process to protect forests and biodiversity. Economic operators must guarantee “zero deforestation” through a “Due Diligence Statement”.

This obligation applies to all imports, placing on the market, distribution and exports of products included on a list of “relevant” products using “relevant” commodities.
Among the relevant raw materials are natural rubber, paper pulp, wood, etc., and among the relevant products are tires, brochures and booklets, packaging, etc.

The working group concerns the actors of the serial and after-sales Supply Chain, in the position of importer, exporter, producer or distributor of the relevant commodities/products.

The working group will need to:

  • Clarify the expectations of the regulation
  • Assess the issues between relevant suppliers and products
  • Sharing the best practices of the Due Diligence Statement process
  • Propose and standardize the information exchange processes required to meet the obligations of the European Regulation
  • By relying on organizations, public authorities and legislators who will be able to clarify/simplify the implementation of the European regulation
